Take Ten Kits :: Project Life :: Happy New Year! :: January 2015

Happy New Year!

It’s almost 2015. I’m always so excited when I get my kit that I make a layout usually pretty quickly after it comes. I like to make my layouts in advance. It motivates me to look at it and think about the pocket shapes I need to fill. This month’s Take Ten Kit December 2014 kit was perfect! I like all of the cards and the colors.

Above is the left side of my 2 page January 2015 layout.

I cut up several cards to make this layout.

Even though I haven’t seen snow in about 7 years I still like the snowy, white, glittery, winter theme. So, to tie together all of the pieces, you will see that I put little bits of glitter paper here and there.

I wanted to use this TTK blue ‘Brand New Year’ card so I cut it up and spread it out. I didn’t want to cover it with a photo!

I love this TTK grey arrow acrylic!

In my mind these little white glitter dots are little snowflakes. And again, I live in California where it doesn’t snow.

For the little dots I just used 2 sizes of a hole punch and used what came out.

The photo above is the right side of my January 2015 2 page layout using the December 2014 Take Ten Kit.

The ‘I Love The Person I’ve Become’ card from TTK December 2014 kit!

This card and star clip is from Take Ten Kits at http://www.thestudio29design.com

Sometimes we are afraid of doing some things. Hopefully this card will help us to remember through the year to do what we’re scared of.

This card from Take Ten Kits goes perfectly with my ‘Wish it snowed in California’ theme. Again, I used the dots that came out from 2 different sized hole punches.

Here is the layout in my Project Life Album for my pocket scrapbook layouts. I had these month layout dividers from a gift so I thought I’d use them. Luckily for me, this one matched!

Below is the entire Take Ten Kits December 2014 kit! I’m saving the other pieces for an upcoming layout. The ‘He Said, She Said’ cards look perfect for my wedding anniversary in February… And #Selfie? I could use that EVeRy month!!

Our Christmas Album :: Many years in one album :: Simple and finished to enjoy this year!

I have made Christmas Albums to document every Christmas we’ve had together for the past 30 years. Some years there are many pages, other years just a few. I put them all in the albums so we can take them out and enjoy them year after year. If you haven’t done this before, I suggest it! You can do this for ANY holiday, any time of the year, or for any special occasion, to take out year after year!

The pages are simple and best of all – finished!

The front page of the album is a simple one. I use a photo from the first year the album begins.

This particular piece of paper was printed like this so I just added paper behind the photo, and paper behind the square ‘Merry Christmas’, put a few foam dots underneath to raise it up, and it’s done.

::     ::     ::     ::

The left side of this 2 page spread starts with a few photos of my decorations around the house. I try to change it up a little but…ok, the gnome and vintage pinecone elves are new.

And this is the right side of this 12×12 double page layout. (each side is 12×12)

Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning- our presents don’t appear until after Santa comes. We’ve never had the ‘There’s no such thing as Santa’ conversation. Ever. Not even with my parents! Or my grandparents! I guess it’s now a family tradition. Because once you stop believing in Santa, well, you don’t get presents from Santa. And my kids are 30, 20 and 15. Let’s just say that every Christmas morning when I wake up Santa has come. And it’s always a thrill. Always.

And here is the double layout of the above photos! It all makes sense now!

::     ::     ::     ::

If you look at the pages, you can see I just take a 12×12 paper, cut it in half, one side bigger than the other, and they go on the outer edges of the pages usually. You can’t even tell that there aren’t full 12×12 papers covering the pages. There is plenty of color and my paper lasts a little longer. Sometimes I cut the 12×12 paper into 6 strips so I have enough for 3 double page layouts!

There were a few more pages of Christmas morning, and now this is Christmas Night when we went to a cousin’s house. We don’t see each other often because the kids are busy with school but when we do see each other, we always take photos of the kids. The photo in the middle is special because the 2 taller men graduated from the same high school the boy in the middle, is currently going to. Very exciting!

Notice the paper strips. And I usually do my journaling on the computer now. My hands aren’t holding up too well as far as writing with a pen goes. And most pages the embellishments were stars I cut out of silver paper. Next year I’ll choose different paper and I’ll figure out something else to embellish it with. But I like to have the pages from the same years match each other. And then next year the page with Christmas 2015, will have a grand new beginning. A little dramatic- I get excited talking about scrapbooking.

And this is the right side of the double page layout. More stars, more paper strips and more cousins.

::     ::     ::     ::

The big cousin Christmas Party! More paper strips and stars…notice the simple theme? The photos are pretty bright and exciting on their own, but, no, I like to push the color a little further. I can’t help it.

Ahhh, how can it be that a 19 year old female has never held a baby? I don’t know, but she was thrilled to get her hands on her new littlest cousin! More matching paper strips. They probably all came from ONE piece of 12×12 paper. A good time was had by all. Until we meet again, cousins!

::     ::     ::     ::

Holiday wrap-up, no pun intended. I didn’t take a photo of the left side of this 2 page spread but this page is on the right and is the last page of the 2013 Christmas pages. When you turn the page, prep will begin for the 2015 Christmas photos. Thirty years of Christmas photos. I believe those 30 years are in 5 albums and this is the 6th. Not too bad.

::     ::     ::     ::

I invite you to start your own holiday album- ANY kind of holiday album, any time of the year! Your kids, grandkids- whoever. You and your family will always enjoy taking it out year after year. That much I can guarantee!

And keep the pages simple- they’re easier to finish!

Project Life :: Flashback: Snow in Virginia City! :: October 2014

Creative Team Member here for Take Ten Kits by The Studio 29 Design!

On this layout I used the last few pieces of my October 2014 kit. I also used many pieces from former months from Take Ten Kits. Because I wanted to use this color theme, I went back to some photos from many years ago documenting our trip to Virginia City, Nevada. The last time we took a trip there was the last time we were in snow! We had a great time.

The October 2014 Take Ten Kit pieces are:

Sweater Weather card

White with Blue Circles card, on the bottom center (I cut up to use in a few places)

Ampersand card

Prior piece: Birch Tree card

The photos mixed with the cards from the Take Ten Kits give a very wintery feel. Cozy, cold and you can tell a big holiday is coming soon.

Prior kit: White ABC’s

Sweater weather! It was so cold! Well, because we’re used to California weather.

Prior kit: MTWTF card, light blue, on the right, above

(I cut up card to use in more that one spot)

Prior piece: Wood and Enamel Wood Drops

Lots of blue, not too many embellishments: the Wood Drops, the ABC’s, a few clouds stickers raised with foam dots, round white pieces cut with a hole punch for the snow…and I think that’s it!

I love the way this layout came out!

If you haven’t checked out Take Ten Kits yet, go to:

http://www.studio29design.com

and join the Take Ten Kits Facebook group: go there and ask to be added!

.. The kits are only $10 ..

Ten Dollars!

I like them because it’s not an overwhelming amount of product that just sits, and then gathers dust while more kits pile up. No! You use your kit pieces quickly. If you go to the website, you can see all of the kits and you can see for yourself how great the kit contents are. I am looking forward to next month’s kit already!
