Project Life Album :: 40 Days of the Holiday Season: Thanksgiving to Christmas :: 2014

Wait..’30 Days of ..’ starts today?!

For some reason when I read ’30 Days of..’ and ‘Dec Daily’ I thought they were the same thing.ish.

Why? I have no idea. I guess it’s the way my brain works. So, I thought the ’30 Days’ thing started at Thanksgiving to go until Christmas (because the word ‘thanks’ was involved). So, because fun here doesn’t start until Thanksgiving (the kids are home then Christmas prep begins). So I decided to do 40 Days. Yes, 40. But if you do ’30 Days of Thanks’ and then ‘Dec Daily’, it’s actually more than 40 days so I’m not doing too bad. I’m just doing it all together. For a big ’40 Days of Thankfulness’. It’ll go in my regular PL album. And I’ll do whatever I am thankful each day, probably. So I’m doing Thanksgiving until my son goes back to school on January something. This is my start pocket and I’m saving matching papers for the last day.

Also, my PL album is just about me and what I like about life. And I do monthly and add special event or occasion pages, if needed. I have a separate 12×12 family Christmas album and the kids have their own 12×12 albums.

Happy November to all! And may you all be less confused than I am!

Take Ten Kits :: Project Life :: Shopping :: August 2014

I had the perfect shopping cards both large and small from Take Ten Kits for my shopping layout!

Even though we didn’t get his school clothes from Target, we are constantly going there for various items- it’s basically across the street from where we live.

My cat Chloe is looking at my Project Life album thinking about the scrapbooking stuff she needs.

My mother. Oh, how she loved shopping. Her favorite place was Loehmann’s by far. She passed away last year and this was the perfect place to keep the card that she passed down to me, and then my daughter. My daughter’s $250 prom dress was only $37 after she used the card and coupon. My mother and my daughter were very pleased about that!

My friend and I went out to an antique show on their opening day and we were very excited. It was pretty fun and then we went and had lunch afterwards. And on the tag, I wrote about the whole month of August, not just about the photos.

This layout wasn’t too fussy and didn’t have a lot of embellishments but the graphics were so great it didn’t need any!

Take Ten Kits: only $10 a month without commitment! Opt out any month.

Take Ten Kits: The California State Fair :: July 2014

The Take Ten Kit is a fabulous $10 kit!! All kinds of beautiful cards, flair, enamel dots, wood pieces, sticky letters…I love it all. It also challenges me to make a page or two with pieces of the kit. The kit has enough items for many pages, by the way. It allows me to work with products I may not choose on my own. Plus a lot of the items are made just for Take Ten Kits.

This is the actual post I did the day we drove to the fair. And argue? We did.

I am thankful that we were able to get together to go to the fair again this year. It’s one of our biggest family traditions. I look forward to it all year!

Take Ten Kits :: Project Life :: My Daughter’s Southern California Trip :: June 2014

Right now: Blog Hop begins Sat, June 27 and goes through Sun, June 28! Join us!!

This is my Project Life layout using the Take Ten Kit from June 2014.
Let me take you though and show you how I did my layout. The photos
are from my daughter’s trip to Southern California. She had a great time!

Since I am fairly new to Project Life I sometimes lay out my pages with post-it notes reminding me where I want certain photos and which papers I wanted to use.

I have laid out all of the pieces of the Take Ten kit for June. I can see what I’d like to use, what colors match with which photos and what kind of journaling or stories I can tell with each pocket.

I’m going to use these three cards but I’m going to cut them up to use them, to show them off, in my layout.

I cut the blue border off of the ‘_ out of 5’ card to use it with the Dish Duty card.

I cut the card and then put a piece on either side of the 4×4 Instagram photo.

I will use the orange striped piece of the other card on this one and then both sides of the layout will coordinate. I like to coordinate. 🙂

I liked the cards so much and wanted to use pieces of them all over! 🙂

Where to use these bright enamels? The colors match the flair perfectly.

I used the enamels here as checkmarks rating how great their trip was: 5 out of 5!

The flair brings the colors out in this photo and I placed it under the 3 important people.

The enamels and the flair add great dimension!

For the wood veneer stars I added some glittery paint to just a few.

Each month Take Ten Kits have add-ons. This month I added a few things. On this my layout it looks like I went a little crazy with the geotags. My intention was to use them, like, 3 times. But then I realized it was kinda fun to mark every place they went. They went many places in those few short days! And now, they’re all marked.

Why, here’s one now!

Here is the first photo, the one of them leaving on their trip. I used an enamel house, the mini ABC’s, and also a geotag which was all mounted on the blue striped 4×6 card.

Here is side 1: the start of their trip. All of the cards are from the kit, as is the white ABC’s, the enamel, the geotags, and the stars. The orange letters are from my home stash. And the Tiki Juice Bar stamping was done to cover-up a mistake. 🙂 I love the way the panoramic looks filling the bottom two pockets. I used a rolling stamp to make the dates of their trip on the ‘Special’ card.

Here is side 2: the end of their trip and coming home. (Waaayyyyy too late for my comfort.) All of the cards, geotags, stars, enamels, flair, and the white mini ABC’s came from the kit. The letter stamps and the rolling stamp are from my stash.

And the last photo of their trip. They arrived home tired, grouchy and exhausted but safe. I love the blue constellation card- the color with the stars was a perfect way to end the layout!

Here are the other items I used in the layout: Mister Huey’s gold spray with the trio of Stickles for the stars, and the rolling stamps by Dear Lizzy and Amy Tangerine.

And here we are, back where we started from! My finished Project Life layout with the Take Ten Kit!

Here is the entire Take Ten Kit for June 2014! And can you believe it’s only $10??!!! I love the Take Ten kits. If you need to opt out for the month there is never a penalty. There’s not a months long commitment. Just a fabulous kit every month. And the add-ons are pretty great, too! > Take Ten Kit Artists for June 2014: 3×4 cards: Sweet Stamp Shop 4×6 cards: Yellow Lime Studio Enamels: Pink Fresh Studio White mini ABC’s: Studio Calico Flair: Samantha Peyton *add-on Geotags: Studio Calico (photo credit to Colie Kumar, this photo only)
