Project Life :: Ace gets his first haircut :: 2015

Ace is a dog from the Korean dog meat market. Gross, I know. He was rescued by DPS Rescue in California. He was quarantined in Korea, and then brought to San Francisco. We were his foster family and, of course, we couldn’t give him up! He’s been with us since May 30, 2015.

When DPS rescued Ace he had lived in a cage for his first 3 years. He was completely covered by matted hair so, of course, he needed to be shaved before they started taking care of his health.

So THiS was his first haircut. When we first fostered him he had short hair and grew to be so fluffy! And he was given the cutest haircut- he looked like a whole new little pup!

We LOVE Ace and highly recommend DPS Rescue in California. They not only rescue dogs from Korea, but also dogs from the high kill shelters in Southern California, as well as rescues in Silicon Valley. They have adoptions every weekend in Palo Alto and it’s always very exciting!

All rescues are fostered, loved, taught how to be pets, walked on a leash, socialized with whatever animals they are fostered with

Starting our 25th Anniversary Album: First Page

I’m starting my 25th wedding anniversary album and my favorite thing to do is to make the first page. It inspires me and gets me moving.

I think it’s a pretty good start. Can’t wait to lay out the rest of the album!

It’s only $20!!! Retrohipmama and Kristymakes made 25+ BEAUTiFUL cards for this class. They are really fun to use and make the feel of the decades come alive. Now this doesn’t have to be a huge project. You can tell your story with one page, or if you’re like me and love making pages then make a bunch! I made 11 double-sided pages. The cards are so inspiring!!

$20!!! You won’t be disappointed.

🙂 Here’s a little sneak from me:

I look forward to seeing you in our group!

A Selfie Challenge: Project: #myselfiescrapbook: The Last Prompt #5: Love Yourself :: 2015

Prompt #5: Love Yourself.

Sounds simple enough but I actually had to google it to see the definition. I never thought of how I love myself. You always hear that you need to love yourself before you can love anyone else but for me I don’t believe that to be true. In my life I have found that by loving others, particularly my children, husband, mom and dad, I have learned to love myself. My father left when I was 6 and died when I was 9 so loving myself…hmm. When you’re a child, that leads you to believe that if your own father leaves you, how could he love you, and then how can you love yourself. That was 43 years ago and while it took me a very long time to recover emotionally, I guess I can say that while I don’t think of ‘loving myself’ in that sense but maybe I take care of myself. Which I guess is loving myself. Can you see how I struggled with such a simple prompt? 🙂 But I did it. I faced it. I thought about it and then I made a page about it.

There was a free brush script to use on your #myselfiescrapbook layout and see the blog post about the prompt: Love Yourself:

http://www.jenniferlake.com/2015/05/myselfiescrapbook-love-yourself.html

I love myself by decorating, no matter how small, for the season or holidays. Being a stay-at-home mom I’m home more than anyone else. So I need to make this a happy place for me. And them. But mostly for me. 🙂

The suggestion is to also sign your album. I think that’s a great idea! But this is going into a ‘special project’ album, so I’m signing the final page of #myselfiescrapbook

This great wood camera came from Take Ten Kits which you can find here: http://www.thestudio29design.com

And here’s the conclusion pocket:

Here he is! The one that caused me so much emotional turmoil! But I never stopped loving him. Ever. And he’ll always be 32 years old. The words say:  My Favorite: Accepting my childhood helps me love myself.

I’m so proud of that!!

And the final double 12×12 layout:
